Candidates for Invisalign

Over crowded “crooked” teeth:

This happens when there is not enough room within the jaw line for all the teeth to fit into place normally. If the overcrowded teeth are not treated, this crowding can cause significant dental decay, a significant likelihood for gum disease, and it can also prevent the regular operations of teeth.

Spaced Teeth:

This primarily happens when the jaw bone continues to grow abnormally during adolescence. When there are significant spaces between teeth, this can cause other teeth to begin to shift out of place due to the extra space. Overly spaced teeth can sometime lead to periodontal diseases if left untreated.

Crossbite:

This is when the lower and upper jaws are both misaligned. The crossbite causes one ore more upper teeth to bite on the inside of the lower teeth, and this can happen on both the front and/or the sides of the mouth. If left untreated, the crossbite can wear down the enamel on the teeth, create gum disease and bone loss.

Overbite:

The overbite occurs when the upper teeth bite over the lower teeth. The overbite is typically genetic, but it can also be caused by bad or habits such as sucking the thumb. The overbite can also be caused by the over expansion of the bone that supports the teeth. If left untreated, the overbite can lead to gum tribulations to include irritation and infection. It can also grind down the lower teeth which will eventually create painful jaw and joint problems.

Underbite:

The underbite is when the lower teeth come out past the front teeth. It is most commonly attributed to the underdevelopment of the upper jaw, an overdevelopment of the lower jaw, or sometimes both factors. The underbite can also occur if upper teeth are missing. This can inhibit regular teeth function for the front teeth or molars, which can eventually begin to break down the teeth. The underbite can also create painful jaw and joint problems, much similar to the overbite.
